Kasim's Story

When I was 10 years old, I developed a problem with my legs and could not walk anymore. I don’t know what happened but from then on I needed my friends and family to help me move around in the village. I couldn’t go to school because the school was too far away and I couldn’t get there. The only job I could do was brushing and cleaning shoes in the village, and I did this for over 30 years. I used all my money to support my wife and 7 children, but we were still very poor.

In 2005 I found out about Neema Crafts and applied for a job here. I attended the tailoring course and learnt how to make many different things, including many of the toys. In 2016 Neema Crafts helped me to build a new house for my family. I love living there and I am so happy that I no longer have to pay rent!
