Spring/Summer Interior Trends 2021
For many across the world, home was our true dwelling place this past year. Many spent hours in their home office and the rest of the time trying to find a space to escape. Our homes have become more important than ever so how can you turn your space into a calming and relaxing abode?
Here we take a look at a few of the latest trends that have emerged. Some from a longing to reach new destinations and others born out of a new understanding of the importance to buy earth-friendly.
Balmy Shores

Think softs sandy colours and calming furnishings. Use blankets and scatter cushions to achieve a welcoming space with a laid-back feel. For example, our Under The Sea print bolster cushion paired with a few complimenting woven cushions will bring the outdoors in using natural cotton and decorative prints reminiscent of the ocean. Throw a plain white lampshade in and our tripod wooden lamp base to compliment the look and give it a contemporary feel.

World influences

Animals, motifs and graphics from far and wide with unusual textures are just some of the features that come under this travel-inspired trend. Nostalgia will influence your personal choice of prints and colours but we're seeing a lot of earthy colours such as burnt red and clay brown.

Revamp your home office to create a work-space you want to be in and not just a functional room. Allow yourself to get a bit creative here with patterns and prints, avoid the default black office chair and white desk. Use colours and comfortable features such as our small or medium size lampbases as a decorative desk light, adding a stylish accent.

Eco-Concious

More eco-friendly habits are one thing but we are seeing a bigger step towards eco-friendly and sustainable interiors. There's an abundance of choice out there making this an easy change!
Our cotton is grown locally and hand-woven by a local collective living in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. The materials are then used here at Neema Crafts in our weaving, sewing and screen-printing. Not only have the products travelled a small number of miles, reducing our carbon footprint, they have provided employment and empowerment to deaf and disabled artisans working at Neema Crafts. Investing in good, eco-friendly products and loving them for life is something we could all do more of!

Ocean Hues

Sea greens and delicate blues hint a future of more freedom ahead this Summer, even if it's just a stone's throw away from our homes. Think relaxed poolside holidays, beach retreats and sun-soaked shores.
Benjamin Moore's Colour of the Year 2021, Aegean Teal, demonstrates this move towards a peaceful interior setting. Andrea Magno, brand director at Benjamin Moore, described this years colour palette as having a “sunbaked quality—it’s almost like you left them out in the sun and they ripened.”
